This is just a suggestion, you guys can revise anything
While going through some parts in Kalimdor, something popped in my mind:
"Racing!"
I find it to be an interesting sport, especially through the paths of Stonetalon Mountains, connected to Desolace, then to Feralas, then to Thousand Needles, then to Tanaris, Un'Goro, ending in Silithus, the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj
Rules:
Everyone playing is expected to have a 100% speed mount, you may show off your other cool mounts, but everyones speed is the same.
No buffs, ret Paladins will be lent some money to reset their specs due to their "Pursuit of Justice" Talent. Death Knight's Unholy Pressence isn't allowed, Other job classes' speed skills are not allowed, All equipment will be thoroughly inspected to not have any movement speed adding effects. To simplify things, EVERYONE GETS TO HAVE NORMAL MOVEMENT SPEED, no one wants a cheater, no one wants a cheap player. (Or maybe we could ask a GM to set movement speed to normal temporarily)
Just get to the end of the race using any path that you want, following the sequence of locations told.
Coordinators may join the race to enforce the rules.
Road description:
The path in Stonetalon Mountains is a narrow path surrounded by mountains, its the start of the race. The scene is described to be a valley of rocks, a basic path and a good start.
Next is Desolace, the huge dessert. Players are prompted to take any path that they wish, the place is open, and full of obstacles. They ultimately end in a very narrow path to the south.
After Desolace, the racers are introduced to a lush jungle, Feralas. The road in Feralas is rough and tricky. Racers can leave the elevated path in their own risk. The jungle is full of traps and wild enemies that can daze you when struck at the back. Eventually, you will end in the thousand needles.
Thousand Needles, the colossal canyon filled with towering towers of rock. The racers are prompted to dodge the towers as they evade the teeth and claw of the denizens of the environment. The racers will eventually reach the shimmering flats, a famous racing course for the gnomes. From there, the racers will head south to Tanaris.
Tanaris, a vast stretch of sand and sun. Players are to cross this blazing inferno through the expanse of the Abyssal Sands, taking no time to rest in Gadgetzan nor the beach, they are led to the southeastern portion where they will descend to the death trap known as the Un'Goro Crater.
As the racers descend to the bowels of a deep crater, they eventually realize that it was Un'Goro, the wild jungle inhabited by Dinosaurs of the greatest of species. Racers are met with several trees, rivers, lakes, and even destroyed camp sites where they must avoid to reach the northwestern region leading to the final path, Silithus.
From Valleys, to badlands, to jungles, to canyons, through desserts, through wild regions of Kalimdor, the players are ultimately led to Silithus, the homeland of the bane of life known to men as Silithid. The racers are expected to cross the deadly paths, through the primary hives of the Silithid, avoiding vicious enemies and hostile homelanders, they are greeted with the final obstacle the gates of Ahn'Qiraj, where the champion will meet the victory of which he is seeking, the Coordinator who will announce the winner!

Re: Suggestions
here is a map I've drawn out to symbolize the paths to be taken in the race
the green is the starting position, then the blue is the finish point. The red sequences the paths to be taken.
wew that was a long post! Well, what do you guys think?

hehehe, the sad part is that zepping might make a racer wait, and when a racer waits, the other racemen will catch up. The racing event will just restart.

Re: Suggestions
i was thinking of that old game snowboard kids where at the end of each lap youd have to get on the ski lift and 1 person would get on at a time making people wait and fight for the next chair
Re: Suggestions
Just one problem. Low Levels + Silithus/Un'goro = no go.

Re: Suggestions
yea i was thinking of that too, that's why there is the path.
Mobs aren't really going near paths, that's why its safe there, plus the noobs wont lose their ways, except for un'goro, that's why you'd have to ride, ride fast. lol

Re: Suggestions
I just need them higher ups to view this forum. Gonna wait for them to decide...

Re: Suggestions
Meh, everyone gets a mount with a speed just like everyone, it SHOULD PROBABLY be a fair game.
All you need to do is to choose whether to risk leaving the path or not, leaving the path may sometimes get you to a shortcut or a dead end.
Hehehe, anyways, just wondering when we can get this event started.
/cackle
I am in need for some more experiments!

Re: Suggestions
If you want to decide an event date you might have to talk to an officer in game...they don't check these forums enough. I think im the only officer that has actually posted more than 10 posts besides the jewker

Re: Suggestions
No posting doesn't mean no reading. I, myself, have been taking a 5 day break due to sickness. But I'm back now, I just need someone to fill me in on what I've missed.

Re: Suggestions
Mycael, Melas and me were thinking of a party in STORM
JUST STORM members XD
somewhat like a prom (had this idea when we were playing around with my tailoring)
We can have the music in Ventrillo
and we were thinking if the GH could get a little darker so that we could have some torches lit
everyone will be in tuxes and gowns and everyone will have partners (and since there arent enough females in the guild some guys can wear gowns XD lol)
but anyways this was just for fun =P

Re: Suggestions
I used to be active in my retail guild and we had a "Where in the World of Warcraft is...?" event. We'd select a member of the guild to travel to any place in the land of Azeroth, this was before BC, and take a snap shot. They would later upload the picture to the forum thread. The other members had to guess where the snapshot was taken. There were 6 prizes, with 2 categories. 1 was specific location, the other was continent. The person to guess the location first was the winner. The prizes went out like this...
Specific:
1st : Get to take the next snap shot + 5g
2nd : 3g
3rd : 1g
Continent:
1st : 3g
2nd : 1g
3rd : random item from guild vault
(Before the official GV launch we had characters used as our vault)
The members had 3 days to guess where the snap shot was taken. If nobody guessed correctly then the player who took the snap shot had to take a snap shot in an easier location.
What do you guys/gals think?
